Before I ventured down here, I ran a cute question before y’all: “Will I Survive in the South?” All six of you (the seventh being myself) gave me a vote of confidence in this one. I must say that there are some parts of this experience that I know will not be fun to see, but survival has little to do with fun. And I don’t only intend to survive, but to grow also, during and after my Internship with the Teacher Corps.
My next question is another opinion poll, not specific to the South:
What would most hinder a student from going through and gaining a diploma from a public high school system?
- Lack of funding in the schools;
- Poverty at home;
- Crime rate in the region;
- No contact with father;
- No contact with mother;
- Uneducated/illiterate parents;
- Poorly equipped/trained teachers;
- Lack of extracurricular activities;
- Poor spiritual environment; or
- Lack of non-parental mentors.
That’s a big list, and it’s meant to be a hard choice. Don’t worry, your answer is only for my own curiosity. You can pick one, even if there are too many
mosts. And if you want to add any kind of disclaimer to your choice, including any options that you think I missed in my quick thinking, please respond to this post. (The poll is featured on the left side-bar.)
